Eden Gardens cricket ground in Kolkata is one of the biggest cricket stadiums in the world, with many crucial final matches conducted here, due to its high capacity. Eden gardens can hold upto 90,000, when tightly packed, however a capacity of 66000 can enjoy a match comfortably - which is close to 1 lakh. The stadium is owned by Indian Army and the first international match held here was before the India's independence, ie., 1934, a three day test match 5th, 6th and 7th of January. The first version of stadium was ready much before, ie., in 1864.
First ODI at Eden Gardens was on 18th of February 1984, which was held between India and Sri Lanka. It's two ends of the pitch are called - High Court end and Pavilion end. I am not sure how many gates does this stadium has and how long it takes to vacate the stadium when packed, in case of emergency. Anyone has this information?
